Last Minute Christmas Gifts

Ok everyone. It is officially crunch time if you are to find your loved one that special gift. Following these guidelines and you are sure to bring home a winning Christmas gift:

1. 1. Think about the person you are getting a gift for. What would they like? What would they appreciate? The more you show that you know your loved one with the gift, the better received it shall be.
2. Don't get a woman a gym membership, vacuum, or some other household gadget unless it is a) in her gift wish list AND b) you've got something surprising and fun for her to unwrap immediately following the practical gift.
3. Don't give something that is alive without having talked it out before hand. A lot.
4. If a guy tells you he doesn't want anything, he's telling the truth. If a lady is saying "I don't want anything", show up with something, even if it's a book you know she'd like and a card. Yes, this is a test and I want you to pass it.

The Best Gift for Men

It's a one word answer and something that you probably think you give a lot of (but could probably give more):

Appreciation

That's it! That is what we, as men, need more than anything else. More than sex. More than football. More than the coolest new gadgets, apps, or gear. The best give you can give your man is appreciation.

Be specific. General praise is really not that great for anyone. Be honest. We can tell when you are 'bending the truth.' If you want to give your husband or boy friend the best gift possible, it's consistent, specific, and honest appreciation.

His guest this past week was Alison Armstrong of Understand Men. Her comments on this aspect of men is early in the podcast. The rest of the interview is well worth your time.

Gifts to Keep You Out of the Doghouse

Sometimes, men do not get their wives and girlfriends perfect gift. Perfect gifts come in many sizes and shapes. However, we men don't really get the whole gifting principle.

Why? Because we think "results" while women think "connection."

For example, I might think Kate wants a new vacuum cleaner because she's commented on how terrible and heavy our current one is. While coming from the right place (my wanting her to be more comfortable), the action is perceived as "You want me to clean more."

Instead, Kate would rather I give her a gift certificate to a spa and take the kids for an entire day.

Guys, for a primer on staying out of the doghouse, I humbly give you the following video. Ladies, please continue to practice your patience and love this Holiday Season. We mean well. Really.

We had a great mention in the CNN Lifestyle section a few days a go and traffic went through the roof. Yippee!

Unfortunately, many users couldn't get into the site. Rather, they were stuck on a feedback loop taking them to the "Session Expired" page. Annoying, I know.
